Because ...
  • We don't just cram you with practice questions.   A few students believe that cramming is the only thing they need, but in that case they scarcely need a school or a teacher!  No, with language exams cramming doesn't work.  Good exams test real language skills, which is why all our exam courses have a large element of general English and concentrate on bringing your language skills up to the right level. But don't worry - you'll also get plenty of direct exam practice as the time draws near.
  • We know our exams well.  At Severnvale we have many years' experience preparing students for the the exams we offer, which are mainly from the Cambridge suite of exams.  Between September and June, we prepare all examination course students at three levels:
    FIRST CERTIFICATE (FCE)
    ADVANCED (CAE)
    PROFICIENCY
During July and August we prepare students for TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, and BEC 1-3 (business English exams)
  • We care if you pass!  Your success in an exam reflects our success in teaching you, so we care very much that you achieve the highest grade you are capable of, and we will do all we can to help you.
  • We provide the same high standards as we do for our General English courses - an adult environment (minimum age 18), small classes for the general English (maximum 8, typically 5 or 6) and only slightly larger for the exam practice and orientation lessons (typically 8, maximum 12), teachers who are experienced and committed, excellent family accommodation, and the right location.
  • We give good advice.  We don't stop anyone from taking an exam if they want to - in fact we encourage each student to try the highest level we think they can manage.  But we do give you a pre-test, and we do advise you sincerely if we think you are going to have problems at the level you want to achieve.
