Shrewsbury is centrally situated, and is easily accessible from major airports.

Shrewsbury is just an hour away from Birmingham and Manchester International airports, and about 3 hours away from London Heathrow. We do not include airport transfers in our charges, because we know that many students prefer to make their own way to Shrewsbury using public transport - or sometimes even their own car. If this is what you decide to do, we will help you by sending train and bus timetables, prices etc, before you come to England. The following is a summary of how to get to Shrewsbury from all of the major airports. PLEASE NOTE THAT BIRMINGHAM, AND MANCHESTER AIRPORTS ARE THE NEAREST TO SHREWSBURY - if you can plan to arrive in either of these airports, your journey to Shrewsbury will be quicker, easier and cheaper.

BIRMINGHAM INTERNATIONAL

Free shuttle bus from Birmingham Airport to Birmingham International rail station. Take the train to Shrewsbury (you will normally have to change trains at Birmingham New Street or Wolverhampton... we will tell you which). 
Journey time: APPROX. 1 hour 45 minutes

By TAXI 
Our driver will meet you in the Arrivals lounge, and will take you directly to your host family. 
Journey time: APPROX. 55 minutes 

LONDON GATWICK

By PUBLIC TRANSPORT
We recommend that you avoid Gatwick if possible - it is the 'wrong' side of London, and your journey Is likely to be long, difficult and expensive.  If Gatwick is the only possible arrival airport for you, it will probably be cheaper for you to pre-book a connecting flight to Manchester, than to come to Shrewsbury by train or bus. Journey time (by bus/train): APPROX. 6-8 hours!

MANCHESTER

Railway station is inside the airport building. Take the train to Manchester Piccadilly (central); change trains. Take the train direct to Shrewsbury (occasionally you need to change trains again - we will inform you if this is necessary). 
Journey time: APPROX. 2 hours 10 minutes

 LONDON STANSTED

The railway station is inside the airport building. Take the train to Birmingham New Street (central); change trains. Take the train direct to Shrewsbury.
